The organisers of the Central and East
European Moot Court Competition wish to express their sorrow at
the recent departure of Lord Gordon Slynn of Hadley.
Lord Slynn was a tremendous supporter of the Central and East
European Moot Court Competition and presided over the moots judicial
panel between 1996-2008. His presence and support were instrumental
in the success of the competition.
Those involved with the moot competition will not only remember Lord Slynn
for his tremendous legal knowledge and judicial experience, but also for his
warmth and charm. He was always full of energy and good humour, never too
busy to spend time with the student mooters, whether discussing complex points
of European law or enjoying a drink whilst preparing for the singing competition.
He will be dearly missed.

The Central and East European Moot competition, now in its sixteenth year, involves teams of law students from a number of countries in Central and Eastern Europe who will compete against each other in the simulated forum of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. The competition is organised by the British Law Centres of the University of Cambridge and held under the auspices of the Court of Justice of the European Communities and the University of Cambridge. In past years it has been held in Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
